...and new ideas! Be one of the VTLA firms who hires one of our Foundation’s diversity scholarship winners next summer! Let us know right away if you are interested.

Last year, we placed two scholarship winners in VTLA firms and the feedback we received was extremely positive. We need you to keep that momentum going!

Hear what Scott Perry from Breit Biniazan had to say about his experience with Kaitlyn, one of our scholarship winners, this summer.

If you are interested in employing an award recipient next summer, please contact Lori O’Toole (804) 343-1143 ext. 312 as soon as possible.

These diversity scholarships are an important aspect of the work of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Foundation (VTLF); we are introducing a diverse group of students to a career in trial practice and to our VTLA family.  Winners are selected after interviews with the VTLF Board and receive a $5,000 scholarship. In addition, they may intern for a VTLA member law firm for a 10-week period in the summer.

Thanks to VTLA members who worked with the Greater Richmond Bar Foundation (GRBF) last month to help 13 seniors obtain necessary life planning documents. VTLA’s volunteers were trained onsite by the GRBF team to provide basic wills, Powers of Attorney, and Advance Medical Directives to those in need. These clinics are an easy and rewarding way to give back to your community and complete pro bono hours so join us at our next event!

Pictured above, Andy Nea, GRBF Wills Clinic founder with Kristie Kubik, VTLA volunteer; Shane Harper, GRBF Director of Administration & Programs with Andy Nea and Sarah Kinzer, VTLA volunteer. Not pictured: Tracy Houck, VTLA’s Pro Bono Committee chair.

Did you know? October is National Celebration of Pro Bono Month

Thank you to all VTLA members who provide pro bono services, donating time, talent and critical funding to ensure legal access in Virginia. Every hour, every dollar makes a difference, so thank you! Looking for ways to get involved? Reach out to Hannah Brechlin, hbrechlin@vtla.com.
