Fun Fact!

Come see the cherry trees around the tidal basin. After this blooming season, 300 trees will be cut down as the basin gets a much-needed lift - literally. It (and the nearby monuments) have been sinking at a rapid pace so the 90-year-old seawall will be raised five feet and widened in a two-year $112.7 million renovation. Rest assured new cherry trees will be ultimately planted, but don't miss this unique opportunity!
