Summary

When the government pays for medical treatment, they want their money back. This practically focused CLE will educate the plaintiffs' bar about the strength of those recovery rights, against whom they can be enforced, and what best practices can be employed to defeat or reduce their repayment demands. Dave Place will present a 60-minute program providing you with practical file handling guidance on how best to address TRICARE, VA and MEDICARE subrogation/ reimbursement claims. The nature of the cause of action and the statute of limitations will be discussed as well as the required forms and complex process.

This CLE is designed to answer the day-to-day questions and issues that arise in attempting to address repayment demand being asserted by the government. Join this CLE with your questions ready!

Who Should Attend: Plaintiff personal injury attorneys and paralegals who handle cases involving federal payer liens will benefit from this program. It’s especially valuable for professionals responsible for case intake, lien identification, settlement planning, and post-resolution compliance who want practical guidance on protecting the recovery while avoiding reimbursement pitfalls and delays.

Topics to be covered:

  • How do I get the lien amount?
  • Do I sign the Attorney Agreement to Protect Letter?
  • How can I get a final number from Medicare before mediation?
  • What if the military won't respond?
  • If we don't pay, what will happen?
