CLE Hours = 6.5 / Ethics = 1.0
GAL CE Hours = 5.0

This year began with high hopes for an end to the pandemic and the ensuing upheavals. As 2021 comes to a close, many obstacles still remain. What lessons did we learn and are still learning from Covid? What changes do we want to keep and what do we want to return to normal? Attend this seminar and explore the answers to these and many other questions.

The day begins with a look into the many legislative changes affecting our clients and ends with a balanced panel of judges giving insight into the challenges facing the courts. In between, our presenters tackle the technical, substantive, procedural, and ethical issues confronting our daily practice. Join attorneys and judges from all over the Commonwealth for a deep dive into what we have successfully overcome and the hurdles we continue to face. You will leave better equipped to improve your practice of family law!

Registration opens at 8:30 and our program begins at 9 am.

Topics At a Glance:

  • Collaborative Law Legislation: How to Handle the Case When It Falls Out of Collaborative
  • Legislative Review of Family Law Issues
  • The Covid-19 Effect in 2021 and Beyond: Custody and Support

Complete Agenda

VTLA COVID POLICY (as of 8/15/21)
At every VTLA program, we do our best to provide a safe and healthy environment. We are constantly monitoring the pandemic situation and will continue to adjust requirements to ensure that environment for all.

The CDC has updated its guidance (9/1/21) to recommend masking for fully vaccinated persons in indoor settings in areas of substantial or high community transmission. Per the CDC tracker, the state of Virginia is at a high level of community transmission. Therefore, as a precaution, we will require all attendees to be fully vaccinated* and masks will be required while indoors at our program, unless eating or drinking. Toward that end, prior to the start of the seminar, we will ask that you certify your status and your willingness to wear a mask. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kelly Parrish at kparrish@ vtla.com or 804-343-1143, ext. 305. Please revisit our registration site routinely for any updates regarding this policy as the program date approaches.

* This includes a 2-week waiting period after a second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

CLE Certificate and Materials: Seminar materials, along with the CLE Certificate of Attendance, will be emailed to you 1-2 days prior to the seminar so that you may print any materials you may wish to have with you.

Attending in person? If you would like to access these materials while at the seminar, please bring your laptop. The emailed links will be active throughout the day for you to access materials that way as well.

Attending virtually? In addition to the seminar materials, we will also email you connection instructions.
