Military pension division can often be described as the “battlefield” of military divorce—and for good reason. This program will provide a practical roadmap for navigating military retirement benefits in Virginia family law cases.  You will be able to identify the benefit, gather the right documents, understand CRDP/CRSC, and draft enforceable orders—with a focused update on recent changes affecting Concurrent Retirement and Disability Pay (CRDP) for Chapter 61 medical retirees. Attendees will leave with concrete strategies, checklists, and drafting approaches to avoid common—and costly—mistakes.

Who Should Attend: Virginia family law attorneys and paralegals handling equitable distribution, separation agreements, or retirement division involving military service members. This program will be especially helpful to anyone wanting to learn more about division of military retirement or disability assets.

Topics At A Glance:

  • Understanding the Military Pension Landscape
  • Identifying the Benefit and Required Documents
  • CRDP vs CRSC
  • Chapter 61 Medical Requirements and Recent CRDP Developments
  • Drafting Military Pension Division Orders
  • Strategy, Pitfalls, and Practice Tips
