1 hour CLE (Ethics)

Synopsis: The Virginia Rules of Professional Conduct govern our conduct, communications, and interactions with our clients, the courts, and each other.  Most of us go through our day without thinking much about the Rules, until something happens.  But a better understanding of the Rules that impact our daily practice can help avoid unintentionally crossing the ethical lines – well before “something happens.”  This webinar will review and discuss various Rules we all encounter every day (whether we realize it or not) and will provide perspective and thoughts on how to manage some of the trickier situations that implicate those rules.  You will also hear how the Rules impact the practice of lawyers on each side of the “v.”  Understanding how the Rules affect opposing counsel in their handling of a case leads to more collegial, and ultimately more productive and less adversarial, interactions.

Why Attend this Webinar:  Successfully navigating the Rules of Professional Conduct is just an admirable goal – it is a requirement.  Understanding how the Rules impact not only you and your side of the case, but also your opposing counsel’s side of the case, will reduce stress in your practice, improve the quality of your representation of your client, and lessen potential areas of friction in your interactions with the other side.  Join defense attorney Kate McCauley and plaintiff attorney Elliott Buckner for an interactive discussion of the Rules that impact our practice and their perspectives on the Rules from each side of the “v.”
