“I use art to express the words I cannot say.   –Kitty Tong

Intro text of painting at VTLA's office...

Here's her story:

“In 2018, I was hit by a car walking home from work. After five months in the hospital, I have aphasia and traumatic brain injury. I have relearned to paint using my non-dominant hand and changed focus to abstract interpretations using acrylic and watercolor. I continue to restore language using art. As my right side has regained strength, I now incorporate detail utilizing my right hand.”

She has also launched a YouTube channel, S.A.Y. Younger Aphasia Group, with Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists and medical professionals along with other younger aphasia people sharing their stories. Find out more here.
