There is so much happening in the world of trial practice right now that we’re sure your heads are spinning, as are ours. From legislative changes to appellate changes, we are here to help.
Along those lines, as the expanded Court of Appeals begins to see civil appeals, VTLA would like to be able to stay on top of issues as much as possible. We can only do that with your help. Right now, there is no mechanism in place at the Court to see what issues are being appealed in the Court of Appeals cases. Please let us know (it’s easy - click here!) if you are involved in an appeal, the name of the case (and number when you have it) and the issues you expect to be addressed in the appeal. We have a special committee looking to reshape our amicus process to determine the new rules of engagement there, as well as watching for trends and issues.
Stay tuned for a second campfire later this year to discuss those issues.
Then keep staying tuned for a blockbuster seminar in December to explain the many great changes in auto insurance law that will kick in beginning next year.
