Opening Statements (2017-2018 Credit)

Published by Virginia Trial Lawyers Association

Summary

Watch and learn from some of VTLA’s very best trial attorneys as they demonstrate their trial techniques instead of simply talking about them – techniques derived from their own experiences combined with the most current research on how to reach jurors. After the presentation, there is a discussion with the moderator about how the presenter formulated their arguments or examinations.

Many jury consultants and attorneys believe that cases are won or lost during opening statement. Why is an effective opening so critical, what elements MUST an attorney include, and how should the statements be sequenced? Jeffrey and Chuck will answer those questions when they each present an opening statement showing differing styles and techniques, including those developed and refined over the last five years.
Due to the nature of the program, this seminar is open only to attorneys who exclusively represent injured persons.
