1 Program with Hon. Rupen R. Shah

Judge Rupen R. Shah is the first Indian American judge to be elected to the Virginia Judiciary and commenced his six-year term on February 1, 2017. Judge Shah worked as a prosecutor in Augusta County for more than 20 years. He is a resident of Staunton and founded the non-profit Valley Children`s Centre, which helps law enforcement and Child Protective Services workers interview abused and neglected children. Judge Shah has served on the Executive Committee and Council of Virginia State Bar and also served as Chair of its Diversity Conference. He was recognized by the VSB as a local leader in 2009 and also served as president of the Augusta County Bar Association during 2008-2009. Judge Shah did his undergraduate work in India and obtained his law degree from New York`s Syracuse University. He also has extensive experience in teaching law.
