Join Emily Callan and Tamara Jezic for an overview of the U.S. immigration system, possible problematic issues, and how best to move forward.

This seminar includes written materials and opportunity for discussion – bring your questions!

12:00 - 12:30 What You Need to Know Non-immigration attorney issues to know about:

                       •  Overview of immigration:
                             o  Difference between nonimmigrant and immigrant status
                             o  Most common statuses such as F-1 and H-1B
                             o  Explanation of employment and family-based green card processes

                       •  Overview of problematic immigration statuses:
                             o  Visa overstays
                             o  Entries without inspection
                             o  Deportation proceedings
                             o  DACA (deferred action)

12:30 - 12:50 What You Need to Ask Non-immigration attorney issues to spot/questions to ask:

                       •    What is/do you know your immigration status?
                       •    When does your current status expire?
                       •    Do you have any U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (green card holder) relatives?
                       •    Have you ever worked with an immigration attorney before?
                       •    Do you have a criminal record in the U.S.?

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation Policy: Written cancellations postmarked one week prior to the seminar will be refunded less a $10 administrative fee. No refunds will be given for any cancellations after that date, but you will be emailed materials distributed at the seminar, or you may request that your registration fee be credited toward another VTLA seminar if you notify us in writing prior to the materials being sent.
