Literally hundreds of you have shared your concerns about VTLA President Lisa O’Donnell’s fight to recover from a serious stroke and we have prayed together, first for her survival and now for her recovery.

Lisa is making great progress. Her understanding, awareness, and spirit appear to be intact and day by day she is feeling better and getting stronger. Unfortunately, Lisa needs some help from us. We know all too well the inability of insurance and health benefits to cover the costs of a debilitating illness and rehabilitation. There never is enough and the coverage never seems to cover anywhere near what is needed.

In fact, for Lisa to be able to receive the care, therapy and comfort required to maximize her recovery she will need the following:

• Significant retrofitting of her home to accommodate her physical needs and limitations, including accessibility to and within the home, as well as construction of a full bathroom on the home’s first floor.
• Significant continuing nursing, therapeutic and rehabilitation care, very little of which is covered by her insurance and which will be essential, at a minimum, for a considerable period of time.

Lisa is a strong and caring woman and mother and a great lawyer, friend and leader. She needs our help and we all need to step up and give as generously as we are able.
